About Paywall Hero
Clear Paywalls With Just One Click! Read paywalled articles, remove pop-ups and cookies, find free copies, or get an AI summary!
Paywall Hero gives your browser super powers to bypass paywalls and read any article -- instantly!
HOW IT WORKS
On many sites, Paywall Hero works automatically: it removes common subscription pop-ups and overlays as the page loads, so you can often keep reading without clicking anything at all.
When you do hit a paywall, click the Paywall Hero icon in your Chrome toolbar and choose your super power:
HERO CLEAR — Clears your browser cookies for the current site only and reloads the page. Works great on sites that limit you to a set number of free articles per month!
HERO WINDOW — Opens the article in a private browser window as a fresh visitor. Bypasses most login-based and cookie-based paywalls instantly!
HERO SEARCH — Searches for the same article published on other free, accessible websites with just one click! Works great for syndicated news stories from major outlets!
HERO AI SUMMARY — Uses AI to generate a comprehensive summary of any article, even ones that are fully locked behind a hard paywall!
100 FREE CREDITS TO START
Every new account includes 100 free credits — no credit card required! Hero Clear, Hero Window and Hero Search use 2.5 credits each, and a Hero AI Summary uses 12.5 credits. Automatic pop-up removal is always free. Try all four super powers and see which one works best for the sites you visit most.
BUY CREDITS ONLY WHEN YOU NEED THEM
No subscription and nothing to cancel. Credit packs start at just $4.99 for 100 credits, with larger packs saving up to 40%. Your credits never expire, and they work on every device you sign in to.
EARN FREE CREDITS
Share your referral link with friends. When 10 of them click it, 100 additional free credits will be added to your account!
WORKS ON 1,000+ SITES
Paywall Hero works on news sites, sports publications, lifestyle magazines, business journals, local newspaper sites, science publications, and more — covering more than 1,000 of the most popular destinations for online readers.
ALSO AVAILABLE FOR ANDROID AND iOS
Paywall Hero is also available as a mobile web app for Android and iPhone. Please visit paywall-hero.com with the device you'd like to use to get started on any device. One account works across all platforms.

PRIVACY
To remove pop-ups automatically, Paywall Hero runs a small script on the pages you visit. It works entirely inside your browser: it does not collect, store or send any information about the pages you visit. The four Hero tools only act on the current tab when you click the extension icon. We do not read your browsing history, track your activity, or sell your data. The extension contains no ads, no trackers, and no malware. Full privacy policy at paywall-hero.com/privacy.

Data source
Covers every Chrome Web Store extension with at least 100 users, found through the store's public sitemap. User counts are read from public listing pages. The 10% most-used extensions are refreshed daily, the next 40% weekly and the next 40% monthly; the least-used 10% are not refreshed. Google displays rounded user counts (and caps the display at 10,000,000+), so small changes may not be visible. Rating counts above 1,000 are rounded (e.g. 1.6K).
