You don't have to choose and stick to one format: enrich Markdown topics by injecting semantic elements to define variables and conditional content, collapse chapters and code blocks, reuse snippets with filters, add tabs, and much more.

Author a reusable piece of content once and include it in multiple places across topics and help instances. This can be a variable, a block element, such as a warning, a reference table with conditions and filters, or several topics that you can include in the table of contents.

When working on a topic, you don't need to rebuild anything manually to see what your changes will look like in the output. Writerside updates the live preview on the fly for you. You can also build the whole instance locally and save it as a ZIP archive.

Auto-completion shows you exactly which markup elements are valid in the current context and helps you add images and links to other topics. Inspections highlight errors and suggest quick-fixes to improve the markup. Quickly navigate to any referenced topic or the definition of an included snippet or variable. Find all usages of an element to see what effect your changes may have.

NOTE: There is a known issue with Rider and DataGrip that prevents creating a new project. You can still use Writerside in these IDEs for working with existing documentation projects. However, to create a new project, install Writerside in another IDE.
